Introduction:
The adoption of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is often driven by the influence of investors and customers. An increasing number of institutional and private investors, from both developed and emerging markets, consider ESG risks as a crucial factor for evaluating their portfolio companies. Those companies that excel in ESG are better positioned for the future, with greater opportunities to adapt their products and services to meet the demands of a global consumer base that seeks environmental protection, respect for human rights, and corporate transparency. Globally, the integration of ESG into the decision-making processes of financial institutions is on the rise and is expected to grow further in the post-Covid economy, as studies have revealed that companies with high ESG ratings performed better than their competitors during the crisis. The purpose of this course is to explain the ESG fundamentals, its impact on businesses, and how it contributes to organizational strategy.
